The Opinionated Laundrymat Lady

Work was blah. Seems like everyone is feeling it. Did a presentation that I prepared for, but we changed it last minute. Oh well.

Didn't have lunch. Ate lemon blondies. Spent the rest of the work day filling out my timesheets. Had to observe my 2nd coach. Got home around 6pm and had bad cramps. Made pork chops, indian lentil curry, and rice for dinner.

Now I'm at the laundrymat FINALLY doing laundry. The lady that owns the place has made many comments. When I walked in to get change, she asked me how much I needed and I showed her my $5 bill. She said "oh, I thought you had a 20. The machine doesn't take those, but people put them in there. (Pause) that's disrespectful." Wth? Okay so then I started putting my clothes in the wash and she told me to put my cart on the side. Then I asked her if I could grab the chair on op of the washer. She said sure and as I was placing it in the aisle, she told me to go it in the corner and then said to just sit wherever I want. I worked on my laptop then put my clothes in the dryer. The dryer didn't work after I had put 2 quarters in and she checked it and it didn't work. So she told me to put my clothes in another dryer and I put in another quarter and pressed hi temp, but still not working. So she put in a quarter and it worked. I put in my clothes. She came back and turned on the 1st one I tried and it worked. She looked at me like it was my fault. Then when I went to check on my clothes she asked me what I was doing. So I told her and she explained that 10 minutes wasn't enough and that the dryer would notify me and ... she said other things I didn't hear. 7 more minutes and I'm out of here. Can't wait.

Wow. That was a long rant.

The Achy Feeling

Last night I had trouble sleeping. I couldn't stop thinking about a decision I have to make. (don't worry... it's a potentially positive one) So that started my day off to a bad start. Well, actually my alarm going off 20 minutes late could have done that all on its own. I decided to take my time and prepared my oatmeal to go (milk was expired -.-) and a lunch (grilled cheese with turkey & pickles).

Got to work late and had breakfast. Worked leisurely on my tasks and then had lunch. Usually I have a meeting with my boss, but we decided it wasn't necessary today. My sandwich was soggy, but I ate it anyway.

Finished the work day putting a file together. It was a nice challenge and I like when I finish things much faster than I anticipate.

Left work and returned the things I bought for my Halloween costume. Went to Morton Williams and bought apple juice & gummy worms for my sweetheart. He deserved some Halloween candy.

Got home and made meatloaf with turkey bacon in the middle. Alex made the mashed potatoes. It was all delicious! We watched some shows on the laptop (glad we're not spending money on cable when we get online for free:) and now getting ready for bed.

Overall a good day, but I still can't shake that achy feeling.

The Day I wish I Could Just Go Home & Sleep

On my way to my other job @ Columbia. I was happy to be meeting my deadlines at Lehman. Towards the end of the day though, I wasn't feeling it. I had leftover albondigas for lunch & will have that for dinner. Yum! :]

Talked to Craig on my walk to work. It's always nice to chat with him. Can't wait to see my family when I get home!

Internet wasn't working at TC. Helped me be a little more lazy today. Now I'm home, snuggled in bed, ready to watch 2 Broke Girls.

Glad I'm going to Columbia tomorrow. Always less stressful when I can work alone.

G'night!

The Trick-or-treating in New York City

So... it's been a while since I've blogged. I think about it all the time and wish I had the time to post something everyday. I plan to post pictures on the days I took a picture from the past month and if something significant happened (that I can remember) I'll briefly write about it. I'm glad I've been busy to stay distracted, but it's very stressful to stay on that never ending ride. Work days come and go, and the weekends flyby. I really don't know how I find the time to do anything.

Today I got to work and was happy to hear my boss wasn't going to be in. It's weird that everyone in the office enjoys that, but it made the day less intense. She's great, but sometime you need a break. I do hope she feels better though. I don't appreciate, however, that my coworkers think that just because she isn't in the office, that means they can slack off. If I was their boss, that would piss me off.

I worked on the filing today and did a formal observation of one of my coaches. No one showed up for his review session, so Pierre stood in as a student. I had to record the session and take notes.

After work I went to Morton Williams to get some groceries. I saw children trick or treating in the stores. This totally makes sense, but I never thought about it. They can do it door by door the apartment buildings, so then going to the stores is the next obvious choice. I was told by a woman in the grocery store that kids take the eggs in the store when they're trick or treating and throw them on the the ground and outside. But this year, this particular grocery hide the eggs. Smart thinking.

We're making albondigas right now and they smell bomb! After this, Alex is going to school to print out his cheat sheet for a test (its allowed, as it should be!) and I'm going to get a free hand cream thanks to my Aunt Raylene's post on facebook.

The (close to) Free Brunch & Shopping Fiasco

Bought a Groupon at The Half Pint & went with the girls. We each paid about 8 for our meals.

Here's the receipt...

Yup, that's real.

Some protesters strolled by with their interpretation of the bull.

Went shopping & saw this going into TJ Maxx. Was too impatient to find out what it said.

Then saw this beautiful art on our way to the subway. Long day! We couldn't even resist going into H&M after we had all decided that we were tired & were NOT going to go into another store.

The Last Trip to Ikea (for a while)

We were forced to go to Ikea again for those damn bed slates. Enjoyed the ride there. We ate breakfast for a total of $5 for the both of us. Then had a lunner (lunch/dinner?) at Carnegie Deli. Way. Too. Expensive. But we wanted to go there & try it since it's famous. It was the best pastrami I've ever had. And that's saying something since I don't necessarily like pastrami. Got home & put the bed together all by myself. Because I wanted to. :]

And apparently I went crazy with taking pictures..

The SI Mini-Conference

Today was the SI Mini-Conference that I have helped plan for over a month. It was very rushed & hectic, now I know how it is to run a conference. *add to resume* A lot of people didn't know exactly what they were doing and since I knew I gladly told them & explained their roles. I just wanted things to get done & done right. I invited Alex to come and after we had lunch we went home & relaxed. It was a very stress week preparing for this event & I'm glad it's over. I got a lot of free swag though :]
