The Trick-or-treating in New York City

So... it's been a while since I've blogged. I think about it all the time and wish I had the time to post something everyday. I plan to post pictures on the days I took a picture from the past month and if something significant happened (that I can remember) I'll briefly write about it. I'm glad I've been busy to stay distracted, but it's very stressful to stay on that never ending ride. Work days come and go, and the weekends flyby. I really don't know how I find the time to do anything.

Today I got to work and was happy to hear my boss wasn't going to be in. It's weird that everyone in the office enjoys that, but it made the day less intense. She's great, but sometime you need a break. I do hope she feels better though. I don't appreciate, however, that my coworkers think that just because she isn't in the office, that means they can slack off. If I was their boss, that would piss me off.

I worked on the filing today and did a formal observation of one of my coaches. No one showed up for his review session, so Pierre stood in as a student. I had to record the session and take notes.

After work I went to Morton Williams to get some groceries. I saw children trick or treating in the stores. This totally makes sense, but I never thought about it. They can do it door by door the apartment buildings, so then going to the stores is the next obvious choice. I was told by a woman in the grocery store that kids take the eggs in the store when they're trick or treating and throw them on the the ground and outside. But this year, this particular grocery hide the eggs. Smart thinking.

We're making albondigas right now and they smell bomb! After this, Alex is going to school to print out his cheat sheet for a test (its allowed, as it should be!) and I'm going to get a free hand cream thanks to my Aunt Raylene's post on facebook.

The (close to) Free Brunch & Shopping Fiasco

Bought a Groupon at The Half Pint & went with the girls. We each paid about 8 for our meals.

Here's the receipt...

Yup, that's real.

Some protesters strolled by with their interpretation of the bull.

Went shopping & saw this going into TJ Maxx. Was too impatient to find out what it said.

Then saw this beautiful art on our way to the subway. Long day! We couldn't even resist going into H&M after we had all decided that we were tired & were NOT going to go into another store.

The Last Trip to Ikea (for a while)

We were forced to go to Ikea again for those damn bed slates. Enjoyed the ride there. We ate breakfast for a total of $5 for the both of us. Then had a lunner (lunch/dinner?) at Carnegie Deli. Way. Too. Expensive. But we wanted to go there & try it since it's famous. It was the best pastrami I've ever had. And that's saying something since I don't necessarily like pastrami. Got home & put the bed together all by myself. Because I wanted to. :]

And apparently I went crazy with taking pictures..

The SI Mini-Conference

Today was the SI Mini-Conference that I have helped plan for over a month. It was very rushed & hectic, now I know how it is to run a conference. *add to resume* A lot of people didn't know exactly what they were doing and since I knew I gladly told them & explained their roles. I just wanted things to get done & done right. I invited Alex to come and after we had lunch we went home & relaxed. It was a very stress week preparing for this event & I'm glad it's over. I got a lot of free swag though :]

The First Food Delivery

Worked at Lehman 9-1:30 like a crazy woman to finish my tasks for the conference. Then at COlumbia from 2-7. Ordered food for the first time at our apartment. Food was bomb! Thanks Kennedy's Chicken & Sandwiches :]

Worked at Lehman first. Observed both of my coaches in their review sessions. Then went to Columbia.

Saw this place last night & had to come back for dinner. We got mozzarella sticks, chili cheese fries, shroom burger & vanilla shake :]

The Non-Phone Call & Night Out

I was supposed to get a phone call from the HR person at the NYC DOE office, but never did. At night, Alex & I decided to go downtown/midtown to get out of the house.

The Ikea Delivery

Went to Ikea today in Jersey and thank goodness they had everything we wanted except the wood slates for the bed. The best part was that they delivered it for a cheap price & we didn't have to carry it up the stairs! Yay! Got excited & started putting everything together except the bed frame. Slept good that night.

Oh yeah... also I cut sugar bags that I got for free from work

& put them in this container. I know... waste of time.
