The 1st Meeting at Columbia

Well, I haven't had a headache 2 days in a row in such a long time. It's getting quite annoying. I think it might have to do with eating less, but I'm not sure yet.

I got to work a few minutes late, but I'll put in time tomorrow when I work from home. I ate my lunch on my way to the train station at 12, to make it to my Columbia job by 1 for my first meeting. I think it went well, but I have a lot of organizing to do! I'm excited! :D I know, weird. I found out that I can come into the office whenever I want, obviousy when the building is open. So that's good.

I had my interview at 4:30. The call dropped twice, so that was annoying. I felt very scattered and all over the place, but I think that happens a lot with my interviews. Hopefully I get an in-person interview next week. I'm feeling a little bad about this whole situation. I don't want to quit my jobs now, but this is like a dream job and the pay isn't bad either. We'll just have to see what happens.

Got home and ordered chinese. They gave us a lot of extra stuff, and I feel bad I didn't tip this time. Oh well. Then Alex attempted to get the glampad's internet working better, but time warner gave him the run around. The love triangle exercised for about 40min in the apartment, showered, and now off to sleep. I don't have to be at work until 10am tomorrow (because I said so:).

Good night, world!

The First Pains of Heavy Rain

Did not want to wake up this morning, but after I was up, I was okay. I forgot I had to prep for a meeting today, but I condensed the time I take to plan and got it done before leaving to work. I had a banana for breakfast and made myself a sandwich and another banana for lunch. As I was walking to work, 2 minutes away from the building, I stepped into a huge puddle. My right shoe and bottom pant leg got soaked, but dried pretty quickly. My first meeting didn't go as planned, only because there was a schedule misunderstanding, so I pushed it to later. Lunch was okay, spent most of it filling out the crazy timesheets.

I unexpectedly participated in a new faculty workshop that I put together, but I was very interested to hear what the new professors/librarians discussed. There was a guy who stuttered, something I haven't personally encountered. Before he introduced himself, he explained that it was just a speech problem he had and in no way did that mean he was nervous or couldn't think of the words. It was interesting to observe. After work, I had my 2 meetings with my coaches and it went well. Despues de eso, camine al tren y me moje muchisimo. I officially hate having to take public transportation, and thus walk in the rain. It's still not a huge issue, but I'm not excited for the snow.

Came home and decided not to workout today. My legs are killing me! I made myself some chicken and rice, which apparently has "too many carbs." I honestly don't understand this "no carbs" rule. I can't live without them, and I'd rather eat healthfully and happy than be miserable. Now I'm full, content, and sleepy.

I plan to prepare for my first day at Columbia. Oh, AND another interview for the Department of Education (DOE) of NYC. Excited and nervous about this one. Please send me good vibes!

The Not-So-Manic Monday

Today was another lazy day. Woke up at 12, pretty crazy considering my usual rise & shine time. Went to H&M and got a hoodie, $5 off thanks to the salesgirl with an iPad signing people up for their newsletter. I got a free pair of underwear (why is it a pair?) from Victoria Secret due to my account with them. Then had a stromboli and salad at a local pizzeria. Got home and finished this season of Degrassi. Finished the night with squats, crunches and lunges!

This is how Hensleigh tries on clothes (demonstrated by Keity). @ the pizzeria

Bonnie came home and it was good to see her. Thanks to her, we had a bed to sleep in. Now time for some STAR bonding!

The Free Pork Dish

Woke up at a decent time, had brunch around noon, and left to Target around 3pm.

Got some essential items, like face wash, nail polish remover, deodorant, and some groceries. We also ended up buying a cooking "kit" that was labeled for $30, but was $36. Still a good deal for all that is included.

Target: 51 Piece Kitchen Set

Then Alex and I made a pork pasta dish, which came out to a total cost of about $2. The pork was free, leftovers from a work event. Half a box of $1 pasta and half a jar of $1 marinara sauce. We also made cheese bread from left over cheese and bread slices. Very good (& cheap) dinner!

The First NYC BBQ "Party"

After waking up extremely early and getting only 3 hours of sleep, I did a little bit of work and relaxed. Then we cleaned the apartment and it looked very nice. After that, we went to the gym again, 20 minutes of cardio and a long time doing abs and arms. Good workout though.

We got ready quickly and off we went to a BBQ. The studio apartment was so cute, perfect size. It also had a decent sized patio/backyard, where we ate yummy food and sat with various people. They had some cupcakes from Tonnie's minis. DELICIOUS! Best cupcakes I've EVER had.

I was so tired, I went straight to bed when we got home.

The Groupon Experience

After work today, and meeting a very important deadline, the rhombus went to Johnny Rockets with a groupon Keity got. Over email, we were trying to decide what time to go, and I jokingly said I didn't want to go today and finished my message with a "JK!" Keity didn't get a chance to finish reading the email so she thought we weren't going. She ended up beign an hour late. But when we finally were able to eat, made was it good! It ended up being only $4.50 each for a burger and unlimited drinks and fries! YUM!!!!!

Watching Keity finally get to Johnny Rockets

Then we went to candy store and sampled a few things. Crazy expensive!
Candy stairs

Ended the night drinking and playing the "name game" where you say a celebrity's first and last name and the next person has to say a name that starts with the previous celebrity's 1st initial of their last name. I was surprised how long it lasted and how fun it was!

The Third Thursday

Today was a slightly stressful morning at work. I had a lot going on, but was able to finish most of my tasks. I went to lunch with my boss, which was really nice. We talked about our past and future and I found I have a lot in common with her. She is very nice and I appreciate her work-ethic. She is a true mentor.

After work, Keity & I went to Planet Fitness to work out. Lets make this more routine!

Then, we order Mexican food and went to bed.

Overall, a good day!
